As not to hide anything that was on this website during the campaign, I will leave this information and create new subjects for everyone to review.

HOME

It is time for a new direction, for a fast growing community, that is experiencing rapid growth!

As the City of Flowery Branch grows, there needs to be leadership that is willing to envision and implement a strategy to attract new development and citizens that can establish Flowery Branch as the premier city in Hall County as well as North Georgia to live and work in.  There are great assets that Flowery Branch already possesses or located within minutes such as the Atlanta Falcons, Lake Lanier as well as local favorites such as Chateau Elan, Lanier  National Speedway , Road Atlanta and the North Georgia Mountains which can and should be used to attract visitors, businesses and residents to our city.

Saying that, I will be running for Post 2 in the next Flowery Branch City Council election on November 6, 2007.

SPEECH

This is the speech that I gave at the October 11 Candidate Forum at the Sterling on the Lake clubhouse. I would like for you to know that Mr. Dobbs spoke before I did and failed to inform the citizens about the development company, he owns, and the recent  property , his company acquired, in downtown Flowery Branch.

I would like to thank those people who have pointed out that there is an excessive amount of commas. I would like to point out that those were to help me emphasize during certain areas of my speech.

Thank you.

Good evening ladies and gentlemen. I would like to thank all of you for coming as well as thank all the candidates for their participation tonight.

My name is Chris Fetterman and I stand before you because I want to be your next Flowery Branch City Councilman for Post 2.

Tonight, I would like to discuss how, I, will bring honesty, integrity and a strong voice back your city council as well as the development of Flowery Branch.

I am running because honesty, meaning free from deception, has been removed from politics in recent years, and needs to be at the forefront. I have done nothing in my life to hide from. I stand by everything I have done and said in my life, and if you ask me a question, I will be honest with you.

I will keep my integrity, meaning to adhere to a code of ethics, which is needed by any councilperson to ensure that the council has each and every citizen’s best interests equally at heart. A councilperson cannot have conflicts of interests while serving, you, the citizens of Flowery Branch.

I will be a leader with a strong voice that will, stand up to, any person or group that does not have your best interest at heart, including developers. I will let those entities know that they will not take advantage of you, the citizens of Flowery Branch, and that I have been charged not to betray your trust.

As many of you may know, the growth, of Flowery Branch, over the next several years is expected to explode. During this period of growth, with the development of new structures, and the redevelopment of others, I will ensure that they are aesthetically pleasing, and that, developers are held to high standards to ensure that their developments, enhance, and do not diminish your property values. I will ensure that the developers are looking after your interests and not after a quick buck and then leave with unfinished business.

Flowery Branch has recently adopted the 2025 Comprehensive Plan that spells out some of the city’s plans over the next 20 years. In this same plan, chapter 10 Redevelopment, the city has chosen certain areas, known as “Old Town” that the city deems as a priority for redevelopment. I have handouts, that you can obtain, after this event, that show a topographical view of downtown Flowery Branch with the recommended redevelopment area boundary and now I read, from the 2025 Comprehensive Plan “ a block that should be high priority for redevelopment is bounded by Railroad Avenue, Chestnut Street, Church Street, and Main Street.”

I would like to tell you, tonight, that through my own research, and a review of public records, my opponent owns a development company, and the following are a list of properties, to the best of my knowledge, his company owns within the city limits of Flowery Branch:

· 5318 Rail Road Ave
· 5404 Church Street
· 5505 Church Street
· 5512 Main Street
· 5514 Main Street
· 5516 Main Street
· 5518 Main Street
· 6143 Jones Road
· 5303 Gainesville Street
· 5307 Gainesville Street

From this list of properties, 6 fall within the boundaries of “high priority” where my opponent has begun redevelopment of some and has been granted a demolition permit for the property at 5318 Railroad Avenue. These properties cover at least 75% of the “high priority” area. 75 percent.

Now I am aware there are a number of individuals and families who own property in Flowery Branch, and have so for a number of years. If the growth of \Flowery Branch involves their property, I want them to negotiate a fair market value.

But it seems my opponent has acquired the majority of, his, companies properties, in Flowery Branch in the last year or so.

Now my opponent is a developer, and that is great. I want people to go out and make money. But, does he want to be a developer and councilman the same city?

Remember, that the city council is charged with the responsibility of passing zoning ordinances for new developments and redevelopments, which include zoning districts, variances, permits and certificates, design review, and many other important issues to control developers. How can my opponent make decisions that can affect his personal interests, without compromising you, the citizens of Flowery Branch?

I pledge to you tonight to never own any property within the city limits of Flowery Branch, other than my personal residence, which is a requirement to be your councilman.

In conclusion, honesty and integrity are the foundation from which, a person is positively judged by their peers. I have worked hard in my personal and professional life to establish these and I will work hard to establish these with you too.

One other note before I go. I find it strange that not one of the current council members has called me to have a meeting to exchange ideas. Yet, some of the current council members have my opponent’s signs on their property or have their signs immediately next to my opponent – showing me, they support him.

Remember:

I will be honest with you.

I keep my integrity.

I will be a strong voice.

I am the better choice.

Thank you all for your attention this evening ladies and gentlemen. Remember to vote November 6 at Flowery Branch City Hall.

PLATFORM

There are always several differences of opinions when it comes to what governments should or need to do to make people's voices heard and their lives easier.

Here are some areas that I believe are vital to a strong Flowery Branch.

Please visit the links for the facts.

VOTING DISTRICTS - As it stands now, there are 5 at large posts as well as an at large Mayor. On June 9, 2006, the City Council started to pursue districting all 5 City Council posts and leave the Mayor at large. This takes the help of the local legislative delegate who will be the one to kill the proposal if we can get at least one NO vote. On June 9, 2006 the council decided to hold a Special Called Work/Voting Session. http://www.flowerybranchga.org/include/2006/060906Retreat.pdf   Then on June 14, 2006 the council voted 4 -0 in favor, while Councilman Pat Zelewski was absent. http://www.flowerybranchga.org/include/2006/061406SpecialCalledWorkVote.pdfA Is there is a little thing called gerrymandering going on? Is this is an attempt to silence the voice of the rapidly growing parts of the city? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerrymandering

TAX ALLOCATION DISTRICT (TAD) - I am for this tool, to help spur economic development in Flowery Branch.  It sounds very difficult, but is really simple.  Here is and example that can be picked up at City Hall with a bit more information to help explain it.

A brief illustration of how a TAD might work in Flowery Branch . . .       Assume there is a four acre parcel in Old Town with an abandoned factory on it.  The sewer and water lines are out of code, there are no sidewalks along the property, at least one city road has been closed off, and the storm drains are filled and overflowing.  The property is appraised (for tax purposes) at $1,000,000.  The taxes collected for the City are $1,000 and for the County (county, school, fire, etc.)  are $4,000.                                                             A developer would like to construct a combination of buildings, which will include retail, professional, and residential space to conform to the look and feel of our Main Street.  The current infrastructure will not support this development and the City does not have the funds to make the infrastructure improvements.                                                                                                   If the TAD referendum passes on September 18, the City will be able to negotiate a TAD are with the Hall County Board of Commissioners and the Hall County Board of Education.  This generates the funding needed to build the sewer and water lines, the sidewalks, and the storm drainage needed by the development.  The developer builds the new buildings, at his/her cost.  The total property tax base increases to $15,000,000.  The taxes raised are now $75,000 instead of $5,000.  Of this tax revenue, the City and County received the same as before:  $1,000 and $4,000.  The rest of the tax revenue, $70,000, goes to the TAD "special fund" to pay off the bonds.

The TAD is not what many people think, a tax increase, it will only increase the amount of tax revenue on the property because the value of the property increased.  Thus generating more taxes not increasing taxes, and after paying off the "special fund" bond, the taxes can be used at the discretion of the City.  Maybe taxes decrease on the rest of the City.

Here are some links to help you understand.               http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tax-allocation_district  Here is an example for Marietta.  http://www.mariettaga.gov/committees/mrc/whatistad.aspx#4

FLOWERY BRANCH COMPREHENSIVE PLAN REDEVELOPMET, CHAPTER 10 - This is what the current City Council wants to do to ". . . spur revitalization in the area", and "Flowery Branch needs to invest in infrastructure to make redevelopment happen.". http://www.flowerybranchga.org/include/2007-Zoning/Adopted2025/10.pdf  When the City Manager says, " . . . there is projected to be a decrease in the Undesignated Water/Sewer Fund Balance from $2,655,213 to $629,390, a drop of 76%. This level of borrowing from the Water/Sewer Fund Balance to the General Fund is not sustainable for the long term.". http://www.flowerybranchga.org/include/2006/060706SpecialCalledVotingWorkSession.pdfThe The City Manager's comments were said on June 7, 2006 and the City Council along with the City Manager and City Planner are pushing the redevelopment of the "Old Town". Why not use property that a developer can come in and build a wonderful complex such as the beautiful Suwanee Town Center http://www.suwanee.com/economicdevelopment.towncenter.php  which is probably a reason why Suwanee has been chosen as the top 10 city to live in by Money Magazine. http://money.cnn.com/galleries/2007/moneymag/0707/gallery.BPTL_top_100.moneymag/10.htmli Why not spur economic growth with this type of complex, with a park, business and housing, in conjunction with the "Old Town" redevelopment plan.  This could be a win for all citizens and business people of Flowery Branch.

TIME OF CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS - On February 1, 2006 a special called work-vote session, based on ordinance 303-C, changed the council meetings that were held at 6:00 PM to 9:30 AM. http://www.flowerybranchga.org/include/2006/020106SpecialCalledWkVoteSession.pdf   If this was passed 5 - 0. How are the people, who work during the day, supposed to make meetings? We do live in one of the worst commuting metropolitan areas in the country. I believe it is better for the voices of the citizens to be heard and not muted. Also, why did the change occur? Was it to silence the voice of the incoming homeowners, mostly in the more rapidly growing portions of the city? I believe so. If not? Why did the council meeting's time change in 2006? There are a lot of questions in this one! I do remember a City Manager say something about "overtime"! There should not be excuses when it comes to serving the citizens.

TRASH COLLECTION- I understand that a municipality must enter into contracts with private firms to provide services that private industry can perform cheaper, more effective and more efficient than government, as well as exclusive contracts that keep large trucks out of neighborhoods at different times during the week. Why though, should any citizen be forced to pay for an exclusive service, such as trash collection, if they have other cheaper means of disposing of their trash. Many citizens are able to throw away their trash at work or, as here in Hall County, dispose of their trash at any Hall County compactor facility for FREE, as long as they have proof of residency such as a tag with Hall County on it or a drivers license with a Hall County address. At the cost of $11.00 a month times 12 months is $132.00 per year, that is a cost some families should not have to pay. http://www.hallcounty.org/depts/publicWorks/details.asp?MyID=51&MyCat=Solid+Waste+Collection+%26+Landfill&MyType=Project

November 7, 2007
Thank you citizens of Flowery Branch!

I would like to a moment to thank a few people who were a key part in my campaign.

First, my wife, Stacy, and children, who I had to spend a large portion of my free time away from while out campaigning. I had no idea how hard it was going to be or how much time it was going to take away from my family, but I believe they understand the importance of their sacrifice. I love all three of you very much!

Second, all the volunteers that helped put out flags, signs, flyers, push cards and talked to their friends, families and social groups. It takes a team to accomplish a victory, not just one person. I can’t express my gratitude enough!

I would like to thank Kellin Dobbs for a great race. Although we were on opposite sides, during the campaign, I truly believe that he is an honorable man. As I stated to several of you, while out campaigning, I do not take politics personal.

Many of you may not know, but Kellin lives down the street from me and we saw each other while we campaigned in our neighborhood and on Halloween Night, and every time we were very cordial towards each other, as gentlemen should be.

I look forward to a positive relationship with Kellin as he continues his endeavors in Flowery Branch. I believe Kellin has an opportunity to leave his mark on Flowery Branch, with future developments, and they will still be standing long after he and I are gone.

I am planning on spending some time with my family over the next few weeks and then I will start my transition as your councilman. I have a lot of catching up on the finer details of some of our issues.

I would also like to thank Mayor Hirling for her congratulatory phone call last night. She made me feel welcomed to the team and pointed out that there is a lot of work in my future.

I will also keep my website up as long as I am in office. I will probably archive much of what has been on the site during the campaign and transition it to an informative site for you to look at.

I look forward to representing everybody in Flowery Branch.

Thank you all once again.

                                                                                                          November 6, 2007
Now I know how a manager of a baseball team feels the night prior to the seventh game of the World Series. There are a million thoughts running through his head as are in mine.

Last night, I wanted to blog my thoughts, but, I was unable to gather my thoughts with all the phone calls and emails. As my family sleeps, and I am getting ready to go to work, I have a few final thoughts that I would like to say, prior to the polls opening.

Have I made decisions that upset people? Yes.

Are there people who will not vote for me no matter how much factual information I present to them? Yes.

Looking back, are there decisions I made that I will do differently in the future? Yes.

There is nothing more I can do. The election is in your hands. Tonight at 7:00 pm the polls will close and you will have chosen who you want to represent you, over the next four years, in Posts 1 & 2.

Please, do not take politics personal. Healthy debate is part of what makes our country great.

Thank you.

                                                                                                         November 4, 2007
I would like to apologize to everybody because I misinformed you on something, and I have said that honesty is what I will stand by. I posted on my October 31 blog,”As of October 25, 2007, my opponent, Mr. Dobbs, has spent $7890 on his campaign”. I was wrong. After further review, Mr. Dobbs has actually spent $8741.72. If I ever say or write incorrect information, I will ensure to correct it as soon as I am able to, and will apologize for any incorrect information.

                                                                                                          November 2, 2007
This is the last weekend prior to the election.

I will be working hard, this weekend, to rally my supporters and, I hope, we can win this uphill battle we have been fighting since day one, of this campaign. I have not spent $7890, as my opponent Mr. Dobbs has, and I am still curious why so many people, that do not live in the city limits of Flowery Branch, have contributed such large amounts.

Time will tell!!

                                                                                                             October 31, 2007
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

I thought I would wait until tomorrow to post, but this can’t wait. I received a copy of Mr. Dobbs’ State of Georgia Campaign Contribution Disclosure Report, which is public record, and anyone can go to Flowery Branch City Hall and request a copy. As of October 25, 2007, my opponent, Mr. Dobbs, has spent $7890 on his campaign. I believe this may be a record for a Flowery Branch election, especially for a position that only pays $4800 a year.

If you think the amount he has spent is unbelievable, how about the fact that he has collected $8125 as of October 25, 2007, and he has contributed only $851.72 of his own money.

You may think that he can rally a base, but what if $3000 of that came from two other companies he owns, per his Financial Disclosure Statement. Another $3325 came from seven other contributors ranging from $225 - $1000 each and, I believe, only one of the seven even live within the city limits of Flowery Branch. The six contributor’s addresses, that do not live in the city limits, are in unincorporated Flowery Branch and Gainesville and, the following is a list of their professions: a business partner with Mr. Dobbs, three are in real estate, a packaging storeowner, a CPA, and an attorney.

I know that anybody can contribute money to a campaign, but why such large contributions from people who do not have a vested interest in Flowery Branch?

Remember, if you would like to see the list of contributors, go to Flowery Branch City Hall and ask for Kellin Dobbs’ October 25, 2007 Campaign Contribution Report for all the details. It will only cost a $1.50 and that may be a wise investment the future of Flowery Branch.

I almost forgot about the other $1400 worth of contributions, less than $101 per contributor, which does not have to be disclosed per contributor – that list would be impressive with names of those contributors.

By the way, I still have $0 of campaign contributions and have spent less than 25% than Mr. Dobbs has.

As I stated in an earlier blog, I like to think of David and Goliath – all I have is a sling and a stone.

                                                                                                             October 30, 2007
I apologize that I missed my blog yesterday, but my daughter, okay I, bought a new game for our Wii game console, Guitar Hero III,
and it is a blast. We played for hours, last night, with the television so loud, we could hardly hear each other talk.

Tonight, is pumpkin carving night and this will be the first time my daughter has carved one from start to finish. No dirty, sticky hands for me. I only have to clean up a bit after her masterpiece is complete.

I will not blog tomorrow because, as we all know, that is Halloween!! I want everybody to enjoy watching the children dress up and run around yelling those famous words “trick or treat”. I will take the day off from campaigning to enjoy the time with my family. I wish you all a happy and safe Halloween.

Thursday should prove to be an informative day about the election full of fun filled facts.

                                                                                                             October 28, 2007
This weekend I went to a birthday party, at my daughter’s friend’s house, as well as High School Musical on Ice. The ice show was the first time we took our 22 month old son to this type of event, and he had a blast, although he did have a few, okay, many moments. I watched both of my children laugh, smile, and have fun. It was amazing to watch all the children just be children and not act like adults do when we disagree on things.

As many of you are aware, politics has become a bit, lets say, unfriendly in recent years, at all levels. I do not understand why. Okay, maybe I do. It might be because many political officials use their office to protect interests that they may have currently or future endeavors. Or, could it be they may have friends or family they are trying to protect? And why do these elected officials take politics so personal? Maybe it is because of the previous above statements.

There was a time when elected officials debated and disagreed about the current issues, but at the end of the day they still went to dinner and acquired about their opposition’s family. What happened to this type of statesmanship?
I want to bring fun back to our government. I believe that we can disagree about issues, but, at the end of the day, still be a strong community that will stand together about issues that affect each and every citizen in Flowery Branch.

                                                                                                             October 26, 2007
I usually write my blogs in the evening after a day’s worth of information. Today, on my way into work, I began thinking of what a member of your current government told me about my words. This person told me that I use “strong” words. Was this a compliment or a complaint? I believe it was a compliment because a person who is elected by the people is charged to be a strong leader with a strong voice.

After seven plus years of serving honorably in the United States Army, six months in Operation Desert Shield/Storm, where I finished as a squad leader Sergeant, and through my current position as a District Manager with my employer, I have developed the strong voice a leader should have along with personable communication skills.

I believe in using honest and factual information when I communicate either verbally or in writing, and, if one is given the impression I use “strong” words – then honesty and factual means strong words.

I am a statesman, meaning, “a person engaged in fixing the policies and conducting the affairs of a government”, and not a politician.

                                                                                                              October 25, 2007
Wow! I was just blogging yesterday about how much my opponent, Mr. Dobbs, has spent, and today I get another mailer from him. Remember that a councilperson only receives about $4800 monetary pay per year. Why is it so important for my opponent to win? Well, I guess you can figure that one out yourself.

Mr. Dobbs always puts the word “experience” on his literature, and I ponder what his experience is. I am not aware that he has any more political experience than I do. So, how can one put the word "experience" on political literature unless they have already been in politics?

                                                                                                                   October 24, 2007
O.k. Enough is enough. I am getting tired of my signs being stolen around Flowery Branch.

I believe that my opponent, Mr. Dobbs, has no knowledge of these acts of stealing private property, but I wish that those individuals, who have been stealing my signs, would stop. If one of my sign’s happens to accidentally be placed on property that belongs to someone who does not support me, I would, at least, hope they would contact me and let me know. I would apologize to the landowner for any such act and remove my property, but it appears that people are taking my signs down on their own accord and do not have the fortitude to inform me of my mistake.

I have worked hard to find areas to place my campaign signs that are, either on private property, that I have worked out agreements with the owners, or have placed them on what I believe to be public right of ways. I do not have the full support of the majority of the current council, as Mr. Dobbs does, because Mr. Dobbs’ signs are on the personal property of at least 3 of the current council members.

These signs cost money and I have not received any campaign contributions, as my opponent has. After a review of his latest, public record Campaign Contribution Disclosure Report, he has received $3400 from numerous companies and individuals and has spent $4121.72 on a campaign that the position pays around $4800 a year. I have received zero dollars from campaign contributions and have spent far less than half of what my opponent has.

I do not own a development company, and have not had the ability to get support because of my personal interests within the city limits of Flowery Branch. I do not own 10 properties within the city limits where I can put campaign signs, except my home. I work for a company and asked my boss for permission to become your councilman because I feel that an honest voice from someone who has no financial interest in the redevelopment of Flowery Branch is the better choice.

It is obvious, to me, Mr. Dobbs has the inside track and I have an uphill battle, but I like to think of David and Goliath – all I have is a sling and a stone.

                                                                                                               October 23, 2007
Today, I was reviewing some of the Flowery Branch ordinances, and I came across ordinance 318 (Flowery Branch Ethics Ordinance-Approved), which is posted on the Flowery Branch web site.

If you read the ordinance, Section 4 Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest, it reads how any person, who falls within the guidelines, must act – including elected members of the Governing Authority (AKA Councilmembers).

As I stated in my speech, at the candidate forum, “I will keep my integrity, meaning to adhere to a code of ethics, which is needed by any councilperson to ensure that the council has each and every citizen’s best interests equally at heart. A councilperson cannot have conflicts of interests while serving, you, the citizens of Flowery Branch”. I stand by my statement and ask you to copy my speech and ensure that I follow my words.

How can Mr. Dobbs vote on all the zoning ordinances for new developments and redevelopments, which include zoning districts, variances, permits and certificates, design review, and many other important issues without compromising the citizens of Flowery Branch. With all the projected redevelopment on and around all the property that Mr. Dobbs’ company owns, he will not be able to vote on a large portion of important votes for the city. Thus, not being a strong voice for the citizens of Flowery Branch.

October 22, 2007
I have had a number of you ask me how the Candidate Forum went on October 11 at the Sterling on the Lake clubhouse. I thought it went well.

Remember that my opponent, Mr. Dobbs, spoke prior to me and failed to inform you about his development company and that his company owns 10 properties, in downtown Flowery Branch, as well as that 6 of the 10 properties are within the “high priority” area in the adopted 2025 Flowery Branch Comprehensive Plan and that these 6 properties are at least 75% of the “high priority” area.

I stand by my pledge, that can be found in my speech, that I gave at the October 11 Candidate Forum at the Sterling on the Lake clubhouse. “I pledge to you tonight to never own any property within the city limits of Flowery Branch, other than my personal residence, which is a requirement to be your councilman.”

Please review the Georgia Code of Ethics for Government Service section VIII and click  HERE!!

October 21, 2007
Well, I am in Alabama, visiting my wife’s family, and will be back later in the day.

We came over Saturday morning and have had a wonderful time relaxing with them and watching them spend time with our children. It has also given me a chance rest a bit prior to the last couple of weeks before the November 6 vote at Flowery Branch City Hall.

I will see you soon!

October 19, 2007
I was watching the weather these last few days, as was everybody else, and watched what happened. The storm split and missed the most important area, as pertaining to water supply for the area, Lake Lanier, to help put some water back into the lake. I would like to take a moment to remind everybody of the total outdoor watering ban. Please turn off your sprinkler systems to ensure we conserve enough water until Lake Lanier fills up again.

I look forward to meeting you and remember to contact me if you have any questions.

October 18, 2007
Yet another day out on the campaign trail.

As I walk around town, talking with you, I see Mr. Dobbs' signs                  (Post 2) around town. If you look close, you will see that the incumbent, Jim Herold, (Post 1) has his signs directly next to Mr. Dobbs' signs. Those same signs of Mr. Dobbs are also on some of the current council member’s properties in town. One more thing – Mr. Dobbs also has his signs on most all of his company’s properties, and yes, Councilman Herold has his on Mr. Dobbs’ company’s property too.

I really enjoy talking to everybody about your issues and the visions you all have for Flowery Branch.

Yesterday, it was the first of two Hall County Schools teacher workdays and I was able to spend some time with my daughter. I was able to take my daughter and a couple of her friends out for a picnic and do a little fishing with them. Well, they ate then they fished a little and after they were bored - out came the dolls.

Today, I was out talking to you and listening.

I would like to remind you about what I said in my speech. I will bring honesty, integrity and a strong voice back your city council.

Now that many of you know that my opponent, Mr. Dobbs, owns a development company and his company, owns 6 properties, in downtown Flowery Branch.  Also, that these properties fall within the boundaries of “high priority” inside the recently adopted Flowery Branch 2025 Comprehensive Plan and that these 6 properties are at least 75% of the “high priority” area bounded by Railroad Avenue, Chestnut Street, Church Street, and Main Street.  I hope you see my concerns.

Remember, Mr. Dobbs spoke before I did and had every opportunity to be upfront with his enterprises and failed to do so.

Please look at my speech and Times article links to read more.

Today while my wife was pulling all the summer flowers, and spending time with our children, I was out visiting and talking with you all. I am pleased that you all have heard about the forum and the fact that my opponent, Mr. Dobbs, was not informing you all of his business desires.

As I stated in the forum, he can make his mark on Flowery Branch as a great developer, within the Flowery Branch adopted 2025 Comprehensive Plan, in the “high priority” area of downtown, and I will make my mark on Flowery Branch as the councilman who will ensure his development’s are ascetically pleasing and maintain your property values.

Please visit my link to Times Article to see how The Times reported the forum.

Wow! What a great turnout at the forum last night.

I would like to thank all the citizens that attended as well as all the candidates. I would also like to thank Sterling on the Lake and Newland Communities for lending the use their facility for the forum.

The campaign is in full throttle now.

My opponent, Mr. Dobbs, spoke before I did and had every opportunity, to tell the citizens of Flowery Branch, about the development company he owns, and the properties that his company has recently purchased, within the city limits of Flowery Branch, in the last year or so.

When it was my turn to speak, I told you that I would be honest, keep my integrity, and have a strong voice for the citizens of Flowery Branch, and I did so last night. I revealed the fact that my opponent owns a development company and disclosed the properties that his company owns. I was honest about this with you. I pledged that I would not own any property, other than my personal residence, which is a requirement to be your councilman, showing my integrity. I also showed how I can and will maintain a strong voice, by pointing out facts about a situation, to ensure that the citizens of Flowery Branch are informed.

As I stated, I want my opponent to be a great developer. I just can’t understand how he can be a developer and a city councilman in the same city, especially, when he is developing within the adopted, Flowery Branch 2025 Comprehensive Plan, recommended redevelopment area boundary of “high priority”.

If my opponent truly has Flowery Branch at heart, then as your councilman, I will work with his development company to ensure his developments leave a great mark on your city.

The Gainesville Times contacted me to ask for a picture for an article that they will publish in tomorrow’s edition. I was pleased to hear that they have taken an interest in your city’s politics, and that there will be a reporter covering the forum.

I have had a number of great conversations with you, while out in your neighborhood, discussing what you feel are important issues.

I will be delighted to meet and talk to everybody, that I may have missed while out walking and talking, and share my ideas on a number of issues as well as listen to yours.

After the forum, I will have much more information on my blog, as well as adding updates to my site.

I look forward to Thursday, October 11 at 6:30 pm.

October 8, 2007                                                                                      Things are starting to speed up as we near the Candidates Forum. I have been spending a lot of time in your neighborhood getting to know you and what you are looking for in your next city councilman. I want to encourage you to come meet me at the Forum on Thursday,at 6:30 pm, at the Sterling on the Lake Clubhouse. I believe the information I will present will help form an opinion on where you need to cast your vote.

October 3, 2007                                                                                               I have been preparing for the meet the candidates at Sterling on the Lake on Thursday, October 11 at 6:30 pm.  I hope you all can attend.  It will be great to meet some of you that I have missed while at other events.

October 1, 2007                                                                                             Is that Fall I smell in the air?  Wow, Summer is over and now and here comes the fall festival season all around the area.  Please, take a moment to visit some of the areas great events with your families.  Do not forget the Flowery Branch Fall Festival this Saturday, October 6.  It should be a great time.

September 29, 2007                                                                                         I have been out listening to all of your thoughts and ideas on what your vision of this great city should be.  I have to admit, that many of your ideas are things that I would not have thought of.  As I ask you when I meet you, "What do you see for the future of Flowery Branch?" I see a smile across your face because you see a person who cares.  That warms my heart.

September 27, 2007                                                                                        I received news, of a meet the candidate forum, which is being set up at the Sterling on the Lake clubhouse on, October 11 at 6:30 pm.  I hope you all can come and see the candidates discuss their important issues, that need to be addressed, to move the City of Flowery Branch forward, in the years to come.  I am excited to be able to stand before you and tell the facts.  Please try to make it to this great event.  Remember, I would gladly have another one wherever any other person or group would like to invite all the candidates or myself.

September 25, 2007                                                                            Another great day on the campaign trail.  I have been able to meet so many great residents of Flowery Branch today.  Lets keep up the hard work and remember, if you would like for me to speak with you or a group, I will be glad to do so.

September 22, 2007                                                                              Today, I was on the trail talking with many of you and, once again, I am feeling a strong sense of VICTORY as long as we keep the effort up.

September 21,2007                                                                                                     Earlier in the week, I called some people to inquire about where the voting district plan for Flowery Branch was at in it's process.  This was brought up at the June 9, 2006  council metting and on, June 14, 2006, was improved to investigate by the City Council.

Well, today, I received a call from the Flowery Branch City Manager and we discussed this very issue.  After talking with him, he said that the he and city attorney will be going down to the Capital in the upcoming weeks to discuss this issue.

As I have said for some time, there are voices that are trying to be silenced.  If you would like more information about this, please contact me and it would be my pleasure to discuss this with you.

September 19, 2007                                                                               Today I went to the Flowery Branch City Council meeting at 9:30 in the morning.  The meeting lasted about an hour, and if I had not had a meeting with the Mayor afterwards, I would not have made it to work until at least 11:00 AM.  As I have stated in my platform, it is hard for a citizen to go to meetings if they also have to work.  I am fortunate that my job has the flexibility to allow me to work remotely as well as my company's support to go to meetings in the morning.

As I stated earlier, I had a great meeting with the Mayor, and she is a delight to talk to.  I recommend to anyone who needs to talk to her to call her and she would love to listen.  I asked her for her support, but I had to agree with her that although she will vote for one of the candidates, she would remain neutral.

While at the meeting, I also met a person, who lives in the more rapidly growing parts of Flowery Branch, who also sits on the Flowery Branch Development Authority, who was appointed, by the City Council, February 21, 2007, and this person told me that they will more than likely support my opponent.  When I asked this person why they would support my opponent rather that me, and remember that my opponent has no more political experience than I do, I was told that he is young and smart.  I replied that I am young too as well as smart.

I would also like to update you on the TAD vote that was yesterday.  The TAD passed overwhelmingly.  Thanks to everybody, for their support, on this important issue.

September 18, 2007                                                                                      Yesterday, was an interesting day.  An area of Flowery Branch told me that it was okay to put signs up based on certain rules, and then the rules were changed.  That is not a problem.  My supporters are willing to change the way we get the message out.

I would also like to add, that I have had several meetings with many of you, and that I believe, that the message is out.  We are well on our way to victory.  Please, continue the word of mouth campaign, it really works.

I would also like to add that the grapevine is working, and I believe we are on top of the opposition's strategy.

Please feel free to contact me, for private or group meetings ,so we can exchange ideas about our city, Flowery Branch.

September 16, 2007                                                                            Yesterday, my family and I, attended a wonderful charity event, the 1st Annual Sterling Stampede and Treehouse Tot Trot, which was for a great cause, My Sister's Place, a nonprofit organization that provides shelter, safety, support, faith, and life skills training to woman in need.  For more information or your donations, please call 770-532-5111.  It was wonderful to see people come from all over Georgia to participate.

The day started with the Treehouse Tot Trot, which was a joy to see the young kids run as fast as there little feet could go.  Next was the 5K run, which my wife and I ran in, and I was given the privilege to push our son in his jogging stroller the whole way.  When the finish line finally came, we finished in 62nd and 63rd out of a field of 66 at a time of 40 minutes and some change.  Water, water, water was all I could think of.

That evening, there was a gathering on the lawn, with a small contribution going to My Sister's Place, to listen to The Rocky Creek Band.  It was wonderful to see all the parents and their kids playing catch and kicking the ball around.

I enjoyed meeting everybody and look foward to the next great charity and community event in Flowery Branch.

September 14, 2007                                                                              Today, it seemed, that all the candidates received their yard signs at the same time.  As I drove around the city, talking to numerous citizens, I saw many yard signs that had been placed, that yesterday, were not there, and yes, a large portion were mine.  Thank you to my supporters.

I would also like to thank those friends that have given great feedback as well as constructive criticism, about this sight.  I have made changes as many of you have requested.  The site has been up and running for some time, but I had a "soft opening", meaning only a select few, or those who knew people who knew of its existence could view it.  I am always listening to you, the citizens of Flowery Branch, of ways to improve our communication, so please visit my Contact tab and voice your opinion.  Your voice will be heard.

September 7, 2007                                                                                       As the week progressed, there has been more interest from, you, the citizens of Flowery Branch.  I am pleasantly optimistic that I will achieve what you want from this election.  I have talked with, you the voter, from all parts of the city, and am pleased to hear that many from the traditional part of the city are willing to support a new direction.  This election will send a message to all citizens that you want a solid future for your city.

August 31, 2007                                                                                                At about 4:00pm today, I went to Flowery Branch City Hall and filed my qualifying paperwork.  It was an exciting moment that may be a springboard toward a long career as a public servant.

Prior to going down, I was aware that there was at least one other candidate whom I spoke with several times earlier in the week. He wanted to know what I was going to do.  As we talked, I told him that I will have an answer Friday afternoon and that he would be the first person I called.

Well, after I qualified, I called him first and, unfortunately, I had to leave the message on his voice mail, but I honored my word.

August 18, 2007                                                                                 Yesterday, I took my first step to set in motion ,my goal ,to win City Council Post 2. I drove down to Flowery Branch City Hall and picked up my qualification paperwork. When I walked in my door, there was a message on my phone from City Hall telling me that I need to sign up for trash service. I immediately called back and told them that I do not use or need the service because I take my trash to work to throw away. I believe that is one of my platforms that I want to change. Timing is everything!!
